In 2026, the United States will commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence—an extraordinary occasion in local, state, and national history. In anticipation of this milestone, the Maryland Historical Magazine (MdHM) invites submissions for a special issue that celebrates Maryland’s diverse voices, stories, and regions, while reflecting on the unique roles that Marylanders played in the American Revolution and in ongoing revolutions of the past 250 years. With this special issue, the MdHM joins state and national celebrations to explore the defining moments when Marylanders determined, challenged, and reimagined the meaning of freedom.
